New Orleans, Louisiana - On July 18, 2026, Carrie Ann Arvello Castrogiovanni, surrounded by her family, was delivered home to reunite with her husband, Dr. Jack C. Castrogiovanni M.D., as well as her parents, Brazil John Arvello Sr. and Lena Tamborella Arvello. She was the longest surviving of eight brothers and sisters, Paul Arvello, Lawrence Arvello, Brazil (Junior) Arvello, Salvadore (Sam) Arvello, Joseph Arvello, Lena Arvello Letillier, and Mary Arvello Miller. She was 82.

She leaves behind a loving family of four children and four grandchildren. Nicholas Brazil Castrogiovanni, Jeanine Castrogiovanni Burgan (Ryan), Jacquelyn Castrogiovanni Migdal (John), and Giacomo Antonio Castrogiovanni (Jordan), as well as her beautiful grandchildren who doted on her: Marley Grace Migdal, Miles Edward Migdal, Giacomo (Jack) Calcedonio Castrogiovanni, II, & Vittoria Elizabeth Castrogiovanni.

Carrie Ann was born on January 31, 1944, in Independence Louisiana, and lived the majority of her youth in Hammond. She began her younger years as a medical stenographer (where she met her husband to be, Dr. Jack) and eventually earned her Bachelor of English and then her Masters in English, Summa Cum Laude, at the University of New Orleans. She worked as a real estate agent and taught as a substitute teacher at the high school level.

She was highly involved in and held leadership positions (board member, president, vice-president, historian, treasurer, secretary) in many philanthropic and social organizations including the Elenian Club, Aesculapians, the Lake Vista Garden Club, Lake Vista Women's Club, Heart Ambassadors, Cancer Crusaders, Orleans Parish Medical Society Alliance, Volunteers of America Auxiliary, Louisiana State Medical Society Alliance, Goodwill Industries Volunteer Services, Our Lady of Holy Cross College, Children's Hospital Guild, St. Michael's, and the Heart Ambassadors.

She coordinated fundraisers and events benefiting educational funds for nurses and medical assistants, children's playgrounds, the families of deceased physicians, and a myriad of other charitable interests.

She was a voracious reader, having read tens of thousands of books over her lifetime. She especially loved horror fiction and Southern literature; and enjoyed comedic films above melodrama.

She was also socially active in Mardi Gras festivities, particularly in the Krewe of Eros (both of her daughters enjoyed being Queen, and her husband King) and the Krewe of Pontchartrain.

Carrie endured twenty-five years of Parkinsons disease, and bore it with a brave face. Although she suffered, she did not complain, and instead chose to focus on the bright parts of life. She enjoyed visiting with friends, the company of her adult children, and above all else her grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend the evening visitation scheduled for Friday July 24, 2026, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Jacob Schoen & Son, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Saturday July 25, 2026, at St. Dominic's Church, 775 Harrison Ave, New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will be from 11:00 am and continue until mass time. Interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum directly afterwards. Arrangements by Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home.
